Who am I?
Welcome fellow travelers to my humble new page, Journey Into Witchcraft. I think it’s important to share with you a little bit about who I am, as well as what my plans are for this website.
I’ll cut my 31 years on this planet down to the relevant information. I was born and raised into an independent fundamental baptist community. Life was church, and it remained that way for 17 years of my life. When I became an adult, I decided I had a whole lot of questions about life, spirituality, and a general understanding of the human condition outside my very small bubble.
My questions made me uncomfortable, because it’s very hard to discover truth when you’ve been indoctrinated since birth to only believe one thing as “truth” without ever being allowed to question it. During college, I opted into a philosophy class called “World’s Religions”, and from that point forward, I understood something rather profound. Ancient religions and Buddhism (not technically a religion, but a philosophy as there is no “god” to worship) are all very similar, and at their heart require the same of all their followers. Love each other as you love yourself. Do no harm. Live a moral life.
Wanting to understand the importance of these ancient cultures all linked together, I stumbled across something I think is the thread that binds us, our beliefs, and humanity’s experience all together. The universal law of attraction. I could write forever about this law, but to shorten it: The law of attraction states that you attract into your life the things, circumstances and conditions that correspond with your personal dominant thoughts and beliefs, conscious and subconscious. In other words, you attract what you think and by the way that you think. Positive thoughts bring positive things.
Does that kind of sound familiar? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you? Do no harm? Live morally? What would you then receive in return, according to the law of attraction? Exactly what you put out. Religions are already utilizing this very law. It’s incredibly in depth and can be complicated, so I’ll not post more about it. There are plenty of resources to read about the law of actraction online, and even a movie that made the concept widely popular known as “The Secret”.
In my opinion, God or whatever “it” may be, has put in place this law, and it is up to the inhabitants of this earth how we utilize it.
Now, how does this tie into witchcraft?
It became apparent to me, after understand many religions and rituals of the anceint (again way too much to delve into here), that those who practice the arts of witchcraft seem to have the best and most basic understanding of practicing the law of attraction.
Because of the taboo nature of witchcraft and its demonization that still exists today in many parts of the world, it is very hard to find a collection of relevant data on the practice. I plan to do all the digging for you, and to put the information I find into the relevant categories.
Also, I want to state that it is my understanding that practicing witchcraft does not mean you are a certain religion unless you tie yourself to a religion, like Wicca or Buddhism, or what have you. I am not asking you to change your religion. In fact, I intend to show that you can be any religion and practice this art without needing to fear. I am simply bringing a collection of information that has for hundreds of years been unfairly considered evil and taboo.
Please know that whatever religion you may or may not be apart of, I love you, and I hope your journey brings you happiness and enlightenment. This web-page will not be a place of religious judgement, but one of trying to be understanding. If you’re incapable of having an open mind or heart, you may have a difficult time here.
My personal journey will be collecting as much information about all things witchcraft related and understanding it from it’s core to the furthest twigs on all the branches I can find. My hope is to have a large encyclopedia that people can access that details witchcraft and the beauty of ancient rituals, as well as keeping it relevant to today.
I hope you enjoy this journey with me, and I hope you’re as excited to learn about this subject as myself.
Now, let’s begin!
